Kuro Obi 5th Anniversary
Did you know it was the 5th Anniversary of our dojo? March 1st 5 years ago we held the first training session in the dojo. Have a look at the post in Facebook to see the bare bones dojo without mats or anything else. And see if you can recognise anyone. And no comments about my (ahem) shape!
I have booked a stall and a demo for the Petersham Portuguese festival. I will need volunteers to run the stall and to do two demonstrations. We have one at 11:40am, and another at 1:30pm, at opposite ends of the fair.
I would now like to hear from all of you who will be assisting with manning the stall as well performing in the demonstrations. It's going to be a long day for me - I have to be there at 7:30am to set up and can't pack up until 6:30, so the more people I have to help during the day, the better.
We have a stall just opposite the Petersham Post Office, with a 3x3m demonstration space. In addition to having students for the main demonstrations, I will also need people to man the stall, sell memberships, hand out fliers, and do mini-demos in our small demo space.
For the stall, parents are more than welcome to help out, and the more people we get, the shorter your stint in the booths would be. Please contact me ASAP to let me know whether you're going to help, and when and how long so I can create a schedule. I know some of you have already volunteered, and I will be getting in touch with you or grabbing you in the dojo to get your times off you.
The final training session is coming up this week, and then we're off the next weekend. Everyone is getting excited about it. It promises to be a good event for all involved. Kyokushin fight are on Saturday and Sunday - no one has elected to do Kata, so we won't be leaving until Friday.
This was the biggest Clicker event we've had to date - with 89 competitors, including some from Young Tigers dojo, which hasn't happened before. Unfortunately, many people chose to leave early, so we didn't get a complete group photo. I do hope we can do that next time though.
We're having a very late first grading this year. Too many things to organise and not enough weekends. Those of you hope to grade will have a few more weeks to try to catch up and perfect your techniqe. Just mark your calendars.
